The world is a mess

The world is a mess, or so it seems. A casual look at the news or social media will tell you that the world is going to hell in a hand-basket, and quickly.

What can you do?

Indeed, what can you do? Is there a guaranteed place you can confidently make a difference? That, if you invest your precious time, effort and attention, you know you can shift things for the good?

There IS one such place, but it’s usually the last place anyone looks.

We’re all too busy demanding that our political, social, business, even sport and cultural leaders, DO something …

…and/or it can be incredibly easy to look at our partner, our family, our friends and neighbours and point out all the things they could change: “If only you did this …” ("I would be happier.”).

Mother Teresa once wrote,

“If each of us would only sweep our own doorstep, the whole world would be clean.”

Start with what you can do.

Start with you and your judgements and your fear and doubt and stress and scarcity and your capacity for presence and kindness and gratitude and compassion and courage.

Start with you, and then see what happens with that as your foundation.

As long as you keep going, “You” is the one place you can confidently make change, and quickly too. And you may well find the world changes with you.
