“What is it we are questing for? It is the fulfillment of that which is potential in each of us. Questing for it is not an ego trip; it is an adventure to bring into fulfillment your gift to the world, which is yourself.”
— Joseph Campbell
A fulfilling life …
One filled with meaning and purpose, loving and compassionate, true to yourself and skillful in living, able to steer the ship of your life in service to some higher purpose than simply scrabbling for survival.
That’s the goal isn’t it? Well, it is for me, at least.
The great thing, despite any doubts you may have, is that you have all that you need to live that.
The whole game is not about gaining anything, but about freeing yourself from the chains of limitation that we’ve all built up over the years.
Dropping the doubts, limitations, struggle; ending being overwhelmed and negative and self-violent, swayed by your addictions and unrealistic expectations and fears; no longer being triggered and laying awake at night frustrated and angry or worrying, in panic …
The result is you naturally shine, centered in and aligned with the highest, biggest You.
Rewarding yes.
Mastering the small self results in complete fulfillment and peace and presence, absolute meaning and purpose, it is the end of suffering. It is having nothing to prove and nothing to hide.
An inner game, just one person moving forward on this path changes the external world for the better. They have a powerful impact on all the people around them, on the world.
However.
You should know that this is not a path of comfort.
It is a path of heroes, and it will take some gumption and fortitude, some honesty, as well as being real and vulnerable too.
There is serene acceptance, absolutely, there is gratitude and joy and love and understanding, indeed; there is all the soft lovely stuff ...
But there is also the willingness to follow wisdom up with courageous choices, to stand strong, to devote a life through action to something that is truly important.
This path of heroes isn’t about playing small, or following the crowd, just because.
It is simple, yes, there’s nothing simpler. Comfortable as you transcend your own bullshit and heal yourself, nope.
But the ironic thing is, if you decide to embark on this path, you will realize that editing and holding back and being swayed by doubt and living half-arsed is very uncomfortable.
Constantly compromising and delaying and making excuses is not rewarding, at all, and what seems like comfort is actually a prison cell. Comfort was an illusion all along.
True comfort lies in aligning with your highest Self. It's actually extremely uncomfortable not to be that.
Discovering what is beyond limitation is a home-coming. Drop these limitations, even for a moment, and there You are; there You’ve always been.
The path is that simple, and is the pinnacle of rewarding.
