Do You Need a Reset, or Would You Rather Know Your Way Back?

Sound baths are huge at the moment. I saw a local one charging £27 and change for an hour. They must be doing a great job because they’re always full. Cheaper than a spa massage by far.

Some people love that. Rock up once a month, get treated, come away refreshed and reset. If life starts getting on top of you again, you know the next one isn’t far away.

A bit like a holiday. An oasis in the diary where you recharge before heading back into life.

I do love a holiday and a massage myself. But I’ve realised my kind of people tend to want something else.

There’s a kind of dependence on a place, a person or a date in the diary to get yourself back to good. There’s independence in the ability to come back, recharge and recalibrate in the middle of life, whenever you need it and all by yourself.

The second is really what I’ve always loved teaching.

Back when I worked with people in the outdoors, my job looked like taking people away for an experience. But the trick, and the best bit, was helping them discover something deeper in themselves through that experience. Something they could take home with them.

That’s my focus now. Not so much a reset you come to me for, but something you learn and carry with you: a way back that doesn’t depend on life cooperating first.

So I’m curious:

When life gets on top of you, what do you reach for?

And what would change if you didn’t need to book it, drink it, drive to it, or wait for it?
